How To Freeze Zucchini ?

There are several ways to freeze zucchini. One is you can grate it and freeze it in a freezer bag. Grate the required amount of the vegetable, and place the grated stuff on a colander. Steam it on top of a boiling pot for about 3 minutes and allow it to cool. After they are blanched, shift them to a freezer bag and store them. It can stay fresh for nearly 9 months. Always put the date and name of the vegetable on your freezer bags for easy identification.

You can also store zucchini slices. No matter what you are storing and which vegetable you would like to freeze, blanching it is very essential in the process. When you blanch the vegetables, they do not lose the taste and color. And, that is what is required to keep them fresh.

Slice the zucchini and toss them in boiling water and keep it in for at least 3 minutes. Switch of the stove and let it cool. After that, put the zucchini in a colander and let it drain the water thoroughly. Freeze the slices and use them whenever you want.

Frozen zucchini takes about 15 minutes to thaw and you can use it any time. Having farm fresh-like zucchini available throughout the year to use is a great benefit.

Try having zucchini slices along with blue cheese dressing. This is the best combination perhaps, and also is a great party food idea. Next time you have a party at home, think about just thawing the zucchini and serving it along with blue cheese dressing as a last minute salad.
