How To Cook Yellow Squash ?

There are a number of different ways that you can whip up a delicious dish of squash. You can roast, grill, steam or sauté, and come up with some tasty and nutritious squash. Read on to know how.

Let us start with the easiest preparation of all -- steaming. The healthiest way to prepare almost all vegetables is by placing them in a steaming basket and the adding the basket to a pot of boiling water. Steaming squash too works the same way.

Cut up a yellow squash into small pieces, arrange them in a steaming basket with a lid on top, and let the steam work its magic on the vegetable for 6 to 7 minutes, which is all the time it will take for the squash pieces to become tender and ready to eat.

If you do not like eating your vegetables all that bland, try sautéing the squash. Cut up the squash in small pieces, heat oil in a frying pan, sauté some onions and garlic cloves together and then add the pieces of squash. You can make the dish look even more colorful by adding some more vegetables. Keep stirring till the squash turns light brown at the edges. Add salt, pepper and any other spices that you like. Sprinkling a handful of parmesan cheese immediately before taking it off the flame would be quite a delicious finishing touch.

Roasted squash tastes great too, and many people like it with potatoes, onions, zucchini and pepper. Grilled squash too tastes very good, and the spiced olive oil brushed on it gives the dish a lovely flavor.
