Where-To-Find-Kaffir-Lime-Spice      Kaffir lime leaves are vastly used in Asian cuisines. They are dark green in color and have a strong smell and taste. They are excellent for flavoring any kind of dish. The fruit of the tree is not that popular. It has a thick crumpled skin along with a nipple-like protuberance at the top and bottom of the fruit. Substitute For Kaffir Lime Leaves

Kaffir lime leaves have a unique taste that no other herb or leaf has. They have a strong taste and smell, and nothing else can match them. So, literally there is no substitute for this one item in the culinary world.

People, who love Thai cuisine, may want to use these leaves. Also, the leaves are one of the main ingredients in the preparation of lemon chicken. However, getting the leaves could be a problem for many people who do not have an Asian store near their homes.

In case you are preparing a Thai dish and Kaffir lime leaves are one of the ingredients, you can substitute the leaves with lemon grass. Although it may not be the same, but lemon grass is known to have the same strong citrus aroma that Kaffir lime leaves have. Lime zest is also an equivalent, but it could alter the taste from the authentic dish. However, Thai cuisine does allow you to choose alternatives; and Kaffir lime leaves are not easy to get unless you have a lime tree of your own.

The best solution is not to use substitutes for Kaffir lime leaves as their taste and flavor cannot be replicated by any other herb. However, if you have dried leaves of Kaffir lime, you can use them as they have the same aroma and flavor as fresh leaves. Also, storing dried leaves is much easier to do, and you will not have to run out and buy the leaves each time you want to make a Thai dish.
