Is-Garlic-Good-For-You      Though garlic’s pungent smell puts many people off, nutritionists and dieticians down the ages have recommended it for its anti-bacterial nature. Garlic boosts the body’s immune system. It also thins the blood and relaxes the arteries, helping in the smoother flow of blood. This is because garlic has a compound called allicin. Allicin is an antioxidant which binds with free radicals to prevent cell degeneration. When Allicin decomposes, it produces an acid that binds with free radicals. More..

How To Roast Garlic ?

Garlic is both a wonderful tasting condiment, and a healthy one too. If you know how to roast garlic, you will be able to use it in almost any of your favorite dishes. Roasting garlic is a fairly simple process that does not take much preparation time. You can mash roasted garlic into butter, add the roasted cloves to soup, and so on.

To roast garlic, you need a whole head of garlic, some olive oil, and salt. Take the whole head and remove the outer papery cover. Leave the individual cloves with their peels on. Cut the tops of the individual cloves with a paring knife. Take a baking dish like a muffin dish. Spread olive oil in the dish. Place the garlic head in the dish. Now drizzle olive oil over the cut ends of the garlic cloves. Liberally cover the garlic cloves with salt.

Preheat oven to 400 degree Fahrenheit. Bake at this temperature for 30 to 35 minutes. The garlic should be soft and easily crushable. Allow the garlic to cool so that you can touch it without burning your fingers.

Cut the peel away with a knife or use your fingers to remove the cloves from the peel. They should come out quite easily. Mash the cloves if you want to add it to butter. You can also eat the roasted garlic as it is. You will surely enjoy the nutty flavor of the garlic as it does not have the pungent taste of raw garlic. You can use it as a topping for bread or mix it with pasta for a unique flavor.
