Mold On Garden Peas

Growing peas needs a lot of preparation. The ground has to be prepared in such a way so that peas are healthy when they grow. When you are turning the soil, make sure you add generous amount of organic compost to it. Manure can be made with rotten leaves and hay. Once the peas start growing, you need to watch out for insects, and also problems like mold.

Mold can easily destroy your crop within no time. Too much moisture can cause mold in crops. One is you can avoid mold from occurring, and the other is to treat mold infection immediately once it occurs in order to save your crop. It is important to understand what is mold, and how it affects the crop in order to prevent it. Mold is a fungal infection, and peas are highly prone to fungal infections.

So, do not wet the leaves and only water the plants at the soil level. Frequently check your crop and start from the lowest level. Also, put fertilizers on the both the sides of the plant and try not to put it on the leaves. Look under the leaves and on the stems of the vine for signs of mold. It will not originate in one place and will usually appear in one portion of the crop or an entire crop. In case the mold has spread excessively in one particular part. then cut it out. This way you can save the remaining crop at least. However, ensure that you treat the rest of the crop immediately with the fungicide.
