Best Way To Grow Broccoli

Broccoli belongs to cabbage family and it is known as little sprouts in Italy. Broccoli can grow in the majority of soil types. It just needs sunlight and a little shady area. The well manure soil is the best for the growth of broccoli. This kind of soil is full of nutrients and prevents the plant from biodegradation.

Nevertheless, avoid growing broccoli with other vegetables in low-lying areas. In addition, remember that you do not grow broccoli in the area that was previously used for cauliflower, or cabbage. It may end into broccoli flower with cauliflower root.

Broccoli has many varieties, but the processes of sowing the seeds are just about same. The only factor that varies is the growth season and time. For instance, the green broccoli grows best in May than any other season. For the best growth of broccoli, it is recommended to plant its seeds approximately 7 centimeters deep and 60 centimeters apart. Cover the broccoli seed with 1 to 2 centimeters of fine soil mixed with organic compost. It should start sprouting in about 10 days.

As broccoli can grow very large and in that process it may get in the way of other plants. If you want to take broccoli crops a few weeks early, before the actual growing time, then you should use a poly-tunnel to warm up the soil. Remember, the tunnel should be placed well before you sow the seeds.

Broccoli plants are trouble-free to manage with the sandy soil and accurate water level. Especially in dry weather and when the heads of the plant start to form, broccoli plant has to be properly watered. When the plant is about 4-6 inches, take a sharp knife and cut the head off. Do not resort to ripping the plant from the ground.
