Beets Health Benefit

Though it may not be at the top of everyone's favorite type of vegetable, let us face it. Beets are a good source of carbohydrates, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. A cup of raw beets contains phosphorus, sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium and iron. Beets are rich in fiber, niacin and biotin. Pregnant women are highly recommended to eat beets since they are said to contain folic acid which can reduce the risks of spina bifida and other neural tube defects in the newborn.

Beets are a treasure of fiber, which is half soluble and half insoluble. This plays an interesting role in fighting fat. Beets are also recommended for people who suffer from heart diseases, since the nutritional compounds found in beets protect heart diseases, certain cancers like colon cancer, and birth defects. Beets are suitable for women, men and children for lifelong good health and a protection against deficiencies that could lead to cervical cancer and heart ailments.

For those who are calories conscious and are trying to lose weight, beets are an ideal substitute to include in your salads. They can reduce your yearning for something sweet since beets are naturally sweet without causing harm to your body.

Beets can be eaten raw, boiled or cooked in a dish according to how you want to eat it. Did you know that even the leaves of raw beets are known to have medicinal properties and are very useful for health? Doctors utilize beets to rid people of tumors, blood diseases and even leukemia. So, add a cup of beet to your diet regimen and see the difference.
