How To Cook Butter Beans ?

You can cook butter beans in a variety of dishes. However; you need to bear in mind that if you do not soak them overnight, it could result in a stomach upset to all those who eat them. So, do not make any attempt to cook themwithout soaking them. Remember to place the butter beans the previous evening in a large bowl or a big mouthed basin and pour lots of cold water to soak them completely.

You can cover the lid of the basin or bowl with a dry dish towel and the butter beans need to soak for at least a minimum of twelve hours. Once it is soaked, you can drain them through a large sieve and remove all the excess water. Add butter beans to a saucepan of boiling water, which is salted slightly. Once you add the beans, bring the water to a boil and simmer until the beans are done. The process of the boiling the beans completely would be about an hour. You can keep checking them periodically with a fork or sharp knife to see if it is cooked thoroughly.

Butter beans taste great with soup and can sometimes be boiled with the soup stock along with additional ingredients that are required for the soup.

Butter beans taste delicious when cooked by itself, but it can be added to a number of dishes to make it all the more appetizing. You can stir fry them with bacon, onion and garlic to make a nice dish for lunch or you can cook them with shrimps.

Whether you are cooking the butter beans plain or adding them as a combination with other dishes, just remember to follow the steps of soaking and boiling prior to using them.
