How To Make Horseradish ?

Horseradish is a root that grows fairly easily in our gardens and they are very tasty. People either take an instant liking to the taste or they can hate it completely. It can add great flavor to your sandwiches, meat and salads or even soups. It is somewhat like the Japanese wasabi and can be very spicy in flavor and taste.

In order to prepare horseradish you will need the following ingredients:

  • 8 to 10 inches long piece of horseradish root
  • 2 Tablespoon water
  • 1 Tablespoon white vinegar
  • Pinch salt

Pull out the horseradish from the ground first, and make sure you loosen the soil around it before you pull it out. Be careful while pulling it out, as it can break. Once pulled out, allow it to dry for a couple of days. Put it in sunlight, so that it dries faster. Once the texture of the radish is dry, wash it well and clean it thoroughly. Make sure you have removed all the mud sticking to it. Then cut some long pieces of the radish. Make a solution of vinegar with one tablespoon vinegar, one pinch salt and some water. One table’s spoon of water should be enough. Now soak the radish pieces in this solution and keep. After a few hours the radish will be ready to eat. It has a very strong and pungent taste. It is also very spicy. However, in small quantities people enjoy the taste. It is used in Thai cuisine and also sushi dishes.
