How Long Do You Grill Asparagus ?

For how long you need to grill asparagus depends on what temperature your grill has been set for. In case the grill has been set at 600 degrees F, then grilling asparagus would result in their complete melting, spoiling the entire vegetable.

The first thing to check is your grill temperature setting. The most appropriate setting should be between 350 and 400 degrees when using a gas grill. Only one of the burners should be put on and wait for the grill to reach the required temperature. If you use a charcoal grill, heat should be moderate. While grilling keep the heated coals on one side and put the asparagus on the cooler side.

Before putting the asparagus for cooking, peel of the woody portions and wash them thoroughly. Put the cleaned asparagus aside and then dry them with a soft kitchen towel. Now coat them with olive oil. This is done so that they do not stick to the grill. Keep rolling and flipping the asparagus over the grill repeatedly to give a uniform grilling marks all over the asparagus. You should never overcook them. Once you see that the asparagus have turned dark green with prominent grill marks, you can be sure they are done.

Place the grilled asparagus in a platter and allow it to cool a little. Marinating with the extra virgin olive oil before grilling would have already added to the taste. Now, it is the time for a perfect seasoning. You may use aged rice vinegar for dressing. Put some salt and add freshly grounded pepper over it.
