Pisgah Bio-Medical Research Center in Asheville, North Carolina carried out a study using artichoke concentrated flower juice. This studies found out that total cholesterol levels were reduced by almost 35 percent and triglyceride levels by 50 percent in just twelve weeks.
The most effective phytonutrients in artichokes are the cynarin and the silymarin which enhances the secretion of bile in the liver. Bile helps in the breakdown of fat and cholesterol and flushes it out from the body.
