Several ancient cultures like the Middle East, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Russian and the Far East have been using herbs for ages now. Even people in Egypt were perhaps one of the first to learn about herbs and their various uses.

Herbs grow in the environment around us in the form of bushes and small trees. They used to grow in the forest. For example, ginger, garlic, onions, parsley, cilantro and mint are all herbs. They are very small plants and their stems and leaves have great medicinal qualities. They also have vitamins and minerals.

Unlike vegetables and fruits, herbs can have medicinal properties and can cure various ailments in the body. However, when one chooses herbal medications, they should be completely aware of the advantages and the disadvantages of doing it.

Some of the advantages of using herbal medications are that there will be no side effects and they are pretty easy to consume. They cost cheaper and they can also be taken frequently. There is no fear of overdosing with herbal medications and the side effects go away faster. Herbal medications can never be fatal to a person.

Some of the disadvantages of consuming herbal medications are that they are slow in acting and can take a long time to show results. If you want fast remedy, then you cannot depend on herbal medications. Some herbs suit some people, while they do not suit other people.
