Growing Culinary Herbs
Growing culinary herbs is one o the easiest things to do and you can have your own herb garden in your own kitchen. However, having said that, not all herbs can be grown in the kitchen and some need more space than just a pot. |
Take some of the most common herbs that are used in everyday cooking like parsley, cilantro, mint, chives and mint. These herbs can be grown easily in the kitchen. Even basil grows well in a pot. However, peppercorns, cloves and cinnamon need more space to grow. These are much bigger trees. Any herb that grows in the form of leaves and is a tiny plant can be grown indoors and that is the cardinal to remember. However, as a beginner, you should always go easy on the choice of herbs because it gives you the encouragement to continue with your aims.
Grow every herb in a different pot. If you have to grow parsley and mint, then use two different pots or them. Mint grows very fast than parsley, and needs more space too. Mint needs more trimming, while parsley needs to be plucked at the right time. Knowing these things helps in herb gardening. You should also know when exactly to harvest your herbs. There is no harm if you keep using the herbs and not harvest them completely. Parsley is one herb that grows onto a full plant which is not much and then stops growing. Whereas mint keeps growing more as you pluck it more and more.
