Herbs like basil, cilantro, parsley, mint and ginger can be grown in your own kitchen. It all just needs a little effort on your part. Remember that the cardinal rule is that even herbs like just any other plant need ample sunlight to grow healthy. If you want to start a herb garden, then you can start small with mint, parley and chives as they are fairly easily to grow and maintain. One thing that herbs need is a loosely packed soil and a good drainage. Stagnant water harms them so take care not to water them more than the plant needs. Also, leave them in the sunniest spot of the house. Save them from winter frost and you are done and you will have a splendid herb garden.
When you plan on growing these herbs, make sure you plant them in different pots. Using trenches is a good idea. When you put in the seeds, keep one inch space at the least between each group of seeds. Plant five seeds in one place. Mint needs some additional trimming because it tends to take over the entire pot and grow wild. But, if you use mint frequently, then automatically its growth gets curbed.
