How To Use An Axe ?

Axe is a tool that is generally used to chop wood or fell trees. It is also used for recreational purposes as in lumberjack tournaments. Depending upon the nature of the job, heavy-duty axes and light axes are available. If you are a beginner, it is better to start off with a light axe.

Ensure that the handle holds the head firmly and is not loose. Otherwise, you may end up injuring yourself. Also, the axe blade should be sharp enough to achieve your purpose.

Firstly, you need to create enough space where you would chop the wooden log using your axe. Clear the debris and clean up the area. When you swing your axe, there should be no obstacles around you. The ground should be even and give you proper footing.

You need to keep your feet at least one foot apart and stand at a position where you chest is parallel to the wood log you are going to chop with your tool. Hold the axe handle firmly positioning one of your hands at the axe head and the other one towards the blade. If you are right handed, keep your right hand at the top and the left hand near the blade. This would help you control the swing.

Swing your axe above your shoulder without moving your feet. Now your top hand would slide downwards and then bring the tool down and strike the wooden log. Use consistent speed and power while chopping. The axe head should enter the log completely before you take it out. Repeat the chopping process in the same manner.
