Plants That Atract Aphids

It has been seen that aphids tend to attack plants that grow at a fast pace. This is primarily because these plants have a lot of tender, young and succulent parts that aphids can feast on. In addition, there are some plants that attract aphids.

If you feed your plants with fertilizer that is rich in nitrogen and releases its nutrients fast, then you will definitely attract more aphids in your aphids. These plants will have a lot of sap that will be sweet; making them perfect feeding haunts for aphids.

Also it has been seen that aphids tend to attack plants in the garden where the first wind of the day strikes. Usually these garden pests are lightweight and are easily carried by strong gusts of wind. So, you can easily get aphids if they are present in the neighborhood.

However, the plants that truly attract aphids include plants like nasturtium, marigold and early cabbage. The strangest part is that many gardeners deliberately grow these plants in their gardens as traps. Once aphids colonize and attack these plants, the gardeners simply pluck out the plants and throw them away. A simple way to get rid of the aphid problem. Out of these so-called trap plants, the best working is the nasturtium. So, if you have a problem with aphids in your garden, it could be because of these plants. The best solution would be to discard these plants. Or, you can think of planting plants that repel aphids. These plants include onions, chives and garlic. Also, planting plants that attract the aphids' natural predators can help in keeping the number of aphids down in your garden.
