What Vitamins Are In Peaches ?

A healthy, delicious, juicy fruit with mild aroma that most of us enjoy eating is a peach. Unfortunately, not many of us are aware of its nutritive values. Peaches, a store house of fibers, help in maintaining the metabolic activities and are rich in valuable antioxidant vitamins. A medium sized peach is about 2 inches in thickness, oval shaped, and is covered with a velvety pinkish green skin and is yellowish or whitish from inside. Peaches make a good choice to be included in the diet of obese people. These fruits are not only filling, but rich in antioxidants and fibers.

As per the Utah State University a medium-sized peach contains non-retinol Vitamin A in a quantity of up to four sixty five international units and meets almost ten percent of the recommended everyday requirements. Non-retinol Vitamin A is considered to be safe by The Linus Pauling Institute of the Oregon State University, and is said that this form of Vitamin A helps in controlling the build up of toxins in the body.

As per the Agricultural Department of North Carolina peaches provide a lot of antioxidants or Vitamin C. Study done by the Agricultural Department of United States shows that a medium-sized peach contains 9.9 micrograms of Vitamin C, which is present in the fruit as ascorbic acid.

Studies done by the Utah State University on peaches report that 0.02mg of thiamine, often called Vitamin B1, is found in a medium sized peach. This vitamin is water-soluble.

The Agricultural Department of North Caroline highlighted that peaches are abundant in riboflavin or Vitamin B2, a micronutrient that is water-soluble. As per the Agricultural Department of United States a medium sized peach contains about 0.047 micrograms of riboflavin.

Vitamin B3 or niacin is found both in the skin and the flesh of the fruit. As per the Agricultural Department of United States, this component of B-complex vitamin is available in larger quantities as compared to the rest of the B vitamins. A medium peach will have around 1.209 micrograms of this vitamin.

Only traces of vitamin B5 or pantothenic acid is found in a peach. Every medium sized fruit will contain about 0.229 micrograms of pantothenic acid as per the Agricultural Department of the United States.

Peaches also have the antioxidant vitamin E within them. This vitamin is present in the fruit in the form of alpha-tocopherol. The Agricultural Department of United States states that this vitamin is available in quantities of 1.09 micrograms in every medium sized peach.
