Taste Of Durian

Durian is a seasonal fruit available in the United States, but it is mainly imported from countries like Indonesia and Thailand.

Durian is a much loved fruit in several Southeast Asian countries and the United States. It is common to find it being sold on the sidewalks of New York. For a person, who has never had this fruit before, they may find it rather repulsive for its looks and smell. However, once the fruit is tasted, the experience changes forever. Durian remains a mystery only until you taste the first fruit, and after that it becomes almost a compulsion to have it. The taste of durian is actually very cheesy.

To look at, the fruit may vary from a light green to dark green to reddish colors. It has thorny soft bristles all over. Once you cut along the visible fissure, you notice that the smell is very pungent. It has a severe sulfuric smell. However, the pulp of the fruit is located deep inside, and one has to scoop it out. The pulp is small yet loaded with calories. It is rich in phosphor, and it looks yellow or orange in color.

Many people compare the taste of durian with cheese cake. Some compare it with bananas mixed with cheese and so on. It has a light sweetish and acidic taste that gets very difficult to compare to any other actually.  It is a unique fruit with a unique taste, and people have to experience the taste on a first hand basis.
