Some of the most popular orchid types that are available are Cimbidyium, Odontoglossom, Cattelya, Oncidium, Dendrobium, Phalaenopsis, Miltonia, Vanda and Phragmipedium.The Dendrobium is a huge hit with nursery centers, since there are more than a thousand kinds of these orchids available in the market.
Orchids come in many different varieties, each requiring a specific kind of climate to live and thrive in. Anota Violacea orchids (also known as Rhynchostylis Violacea) are originally from the island of Philippine, and they bloom mostly in spring and winter.
Brassavola orchids are from South and Central America, thrive in warmer climates and are aromatic at night.
Cattelya orchids come in two categories -- labiate and bifoliate. The labiates are one-leaved with one to three big flowers, while the bifoliates are two-leaved with a large number of small, narrow and colorful flowers. Also, Cattelya orchids do well in humid conditions.

Epidendrum orchids have many different varieties, starting with very small ones to ones with pseudo bulbs to ones with cane or reed like stems.
