Growing an indoor orchid requires proper watering for healthy growth.To start with, make sure that your sit the bark of your orchid in a container filled with water. This must be done the night before you plan to plant it, so that the bark is sufficiently moistened and is ready for planting. Next, let the plant be for the first week after transplantation. The moistened bark will supply the plant with all the nutrients it needs till the next watering. This will also give the plant time to get used to the new environment. Your orchid plant needs to be kept moist, but not soggy. So, keep checking whether it needs watering. Your watering schedule will depend on the weather. This means that you will have to water more frequently in summer than in winter.
Orchids need a humid environment. So, on days that are hotter, spray the plants with water. Placing your plant on a humidity tray will also help. Ideally, you should water your orchid plant once every week. If the roots are still damp from the previous watering, you must give it a miss. Also, make sure that you do not splash water on the orchid’s foliage. In case that happens, wipe off the water immediately or else it will lead to the formation of fungi and bacteria on the leaves.
