They look best when planted in large clumps and also in groups of the same color.Daffodils thrive in cooler climates. Hence, cooler temperatures will automatically result in longer lasting blooms. Indirect sunlight from the West, East or South are ideal for growing these plants, while the humidity level required is medium.
Ideally daffodils should be planted during fall. Repotting daffodils is not advisable, since it may kill the flowers. You also need to protect the plants from snails and slugs, so it is advisable that you use snail bait and beer traps during growing season. If blooming fails to happen in one season, move the bulbs to a new spot. Use a bulb fertilizer for light fertilization when planting and after flowering. Remember to keep the bulbs moist during the dry months. You can also force blooming at a desired time, by using temperature control and special fertilizing and lighting techniques.
However, bulbs that have been used for forced blooming are not good for planting again, since forcing uses up most of their nutrients. Do not throw them away either. Instead, plant these bulbs outdoors and in all possibilities you will get flowers again next year. This will happen because the natural light, temperature and soil conditions will be sufficient for the bulbs to bloom again.
