Which Pesticides Are Earth Friendly ?


If you have a garden, you will be plagued by pests. However, this does not mean that you use chemicals to get rid of these pests because chemicals are not earth-friendly and can be hazardous to the environment and you.


That is why you have to opt for earth friendly pesticides which are natural, chemical free, and safe for you and your family. Here are some pesticides that considered to be earth friendly primarily because they are natural and without chemicals.

Earth-friendly Pesticides:

  • Tobacco water is considered to be an effective pesticide to tackle pest problems in your garden. You just need to take a handful of tobacco and mix it in 4 quarts of warm water. Allow this mixture to stand for 24 hours and then use it to spray your plants. However, this mixture can be toxic to humans so use it will all proper precautions.
  • Take around 2 or 3 hot pepper, half an onion and one clove of garlic. Blend this with 4 quarts of water and boil. Let the mixture stand for 48 hours and then strain and spray on plants to get rid of pests. You can even freeze the mixture and keep it for use in the future.
  • Take natural liquid soap, around 2 tablespoons, and mix it in one quart of water. Spray on plants for effective results. You can make the same earth-friendly pesticide using 1/5 ounce of dry soap in one quart of water.
  • Pyrethrum dust is highly effective against insects with soft bodies. You can use it to get rid of caterpillars in your garden. However, be careful not to inhale any of it as it mildly toxic to humans.
  • Diatomaceous earth is perfect for snails and slugs in the garden. It causes dehydration and eventual death. The best part is that you can use it indoors and outdoors without any problem. Just make sure that you know use the variety that is made for swimming pool filtration system as it is chemical in nature and hence, not earth-friendly.
