Hydroponics:

Diy-Aeroponics      Hydroponics means water working in Latin, and it literally means that. Aeroponics means air working. In aeroponics, hydroponics is practiced but in a different method. The plant roots in aeroponics are suspended in mid air, and they are sprayed with all the necessary nutrients. These nutrients are mixed in water just like in hydroponics. More..

Aeroponics Vs Hydroponics

Hydroponics and aeroponics are extremely popular methodologies which involve growing the plants without making use of soil. It may seem impossible when you hear about it for the first time, but there is a way to do it. However, there are some major differences between these two methods.

In hydroponics, a mineral based solution is used to nourish the plants. In aeroponics, the plants' roots are provided with nutrients by spraying them with it. In both the methods, the plants are grown in a closed misty environment. In this environment, the plants have all the essential things that they need to grow, like oxygen and water, in the right proportions that they need.

Both these techniques are based on the very fact that it is the soil that contains the necessary nutrients for the plants, and in reality the soil does not play any role in plant growth. If there is an alternative method of growing plants by supplying all the nutrients, then the spoil is not required.

Soil less planting is extremely beneficial areas where soil is not available like deserts for example. Here no agriculture takes place and that is why no body inhabits a desert. Aeroponics is, however, considered to be more advanced technique hydroponics. And, there are several factors influencing it. One is the set up cost is low and the maintenance of solution required for hydroponics in large quantities is a bit difficult. For aeroponics, the medium is required, and the whole set up might just fail. Hydroponics is, therefore, availed of a backup in case of such an eventuality.
